Unfortunately due to COVID 19, Northstar will not be having a candidate program this year, 2020-2021, as our energy will be focused in getting our current Patrol staff compliant with OEC 6 and implementing new training on COVID 19 protocols.
If you are interested in next season, 2021 to 2022, you are required to have an Outdoor Emergency Care, (OEC) Technician Certificate, an American Heart Association , Health Care Provider basic life support, CPR/AED card and be able to pass a ski or board check on the mountain (which is generally in December).
The OEC certification classes typically start in August 2021.
At this time we are not sure of the class parameters due to COVID 19 but if you are intersted please contact David Rozzi, [email protected] to get a the list of scheduled classes in your area. Currently there are CA classes in the following areas: Palo Alto, Sacramento and Truckee. We also provide a 2-week intensive class in Truckee, starting in October.
In addition to this site, which is specific to Northstar, you can also visit www.nsp.org to learn more about the National Ski Patrol Program.
